About Square Root Symbols
A small, single-purpose site built to answer one question fast: how do I get √ onto my page?
Why this site exists
Most pages that claim to help you type or copy the square root symbol are reference tables padded out with unrelated text, or they only give you the bare √ character with no way to build a real expression like √9 with the bar extending over the number. We built squarerootsymbols.com to fix both problems: a one-click copy button, correct shortcuts for every platform, every common text format in one place, and an equation writer that generates expressions which actually paste correctly into Word, Docs, and chat apps.
How it's built
The whole site is static and runs in your browser — there are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no server storing what you type or copy. Copying uses your browser's clipboard API directly; the values never leave your device. Your only saved preference is light/dark mode, kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choice on your next visit. See theprivacy policyfor the full details.
What's on the site
- A one-click copy button for the √ symbol itself.
- An equation writer that builds a full square-root expression with the bar over the number or variable.
- Every common copy format — Unicode, HTML entity, LaTeX, CSS content value, and spreadsheet formulas.
- A complete typing guide for Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android, Word, and Excel.
